ORPINGTON’S U9 football team are the toast of the town after clinching the Selkent Division C league championship to win promotion to Division B.
Winning all but one of the games, Orpington swept to their title success, scoring a hatful of goals along the way.
Manager Gifty Quirk put it all down to a tremendous team spirit and quiet determination.
He said: “This is the only the second taste these young lads have had of league football and they have performed magnificently.
“They’ve been together at Orpington FC since they were toddlers.
“It’s not all about winning though and it’s important the lads enjoy their football.
“They and they certainly do at the moment.”
Orpington chairman Jeff Cockburn added: “This is also a tribute to the work of our soccer school, from which these lads graduated last season.”
