FOUR second half goals by the visitors saw Bromley bow out of this season’s Kent Senior Cup at the first attempt at Hayes Lane on Tuesday evening.
For the second successive season, Bromley made their exit from the county Cup by a team two divisions below them in the pyramid.
In another exceptionally poor game, Bromley never looked interested in trying to win this game despite taking the lead against the run of play in the 32nd minute.
Ryman League Division One South side Sittingbourne completely dominated after the first 15 minutes and, but for a five-star display by keeper Gareth Williams, would have won by a larger margin.
Bromley opened brightly enough and Tutu Henriques hit the post with a header in the eighth minute before Warren McBean shot weakly at the keeper shortly afterwards.
Newcomer Tom Davis then shot straight at the opposing keeper.
Williams denied Tom Bradbrook on 19 minutes and, six minutes later, made a brilliant one-handed block from Hicham Akhazzan after the winger had beaten the offside trap.
Bradbrook was just wide of the post and Jake Hobbs shot wide as Sittingbourne began to dominate.
However, McBean helped on Ashley Carew’s cross to Phil Ruggles, who played the ball off a defender before toe punting home to put Bromley ahead on 32 minutes.
Two goals in the first four minutes of the second half from Karl Dent put Sittingbourne in the driving seat.
And the midfielder might have had his hat-trick on the hour mark when Elie Kayombe pulled a pass back from the byline, only for Dent to drag his shot wide.
Bromley fell further behind on 66 minutes when Akhazzan had an easy tap in following a break and cross from the right wing.
Sittingbourne completed the scoring three minutes later when Bradbrook back heeled into goal from a right wing corner.
The home side never looked likely to retrieve the situation and only Williams and Steve Ferguson showed any desire or urgency.
Bromley: Williams, Greene, Dolby, I’Anson (Fray 82), Gillman, Henriques, Ferguson, Davis, Ruggles (Calliste 67), McBean, Carew. Subs not used: Daly, Farrar, Liburd.
