EBBSFLEET boss Liam Daish has warned his rejuvenated side not to underestimate rock bottom Chester City on Saturday.
Chester have been dogged by off the field problems and fan protests this year and began the campaign with a 25 point deduction for breaching financial rules.
They’ve managed to pull that back to minus three, although unsurprisingly they remain firmly adrift at the foot of the table going into this weekend’s home meeting with the Fleet.
In contrast, Daish’s side have turned their fortunes around in the last two months after a difficult start and head to Chester on the back of last Saturday’s stunning 3-2 win at Luton Town.
The Ebbsfleet boss admitted it probably was the club’s best result of the season to date but was quick to add his side must not take their eye off the ball at Chester.
He said: “I think the Luton win was a big result for us when you consider the squad they have and the fact they were one of the favourites to go straight back up.
“It is fair enough to therefore say that was our biggest result of the season.
“Confidence is high at the moment and we are all looking forward to going up to Chester.
“We must make sure we maintain the same level of hard work and commitment shown in recent weeks if we are to get a result though.
“It will be a tough match and a very different one from what we faced at Luton.
“They’ve had their fair share of problems this year, so we’ve got to make sure we stay focused and concentrate on what we are all about.”
There was even more good news at Stonebridge Road this week on the back of the Luton triumph when striker Magno Vieira was named as the Blue Square Premier player-of-the month.
Daish has been delighted with the forward’s contribution so far and is challenging the prolific player to get even more goals before the season ends.
“I’m really pleased for him because he works very hard and it has been recognised,” the Fleet chief said.
“Magno can finish the season with 20 goals in my view.
“He is eight off that target at the moment but there are still plenty of games to go yet.”
Ebbsfleet have no new injury problems for the trip to Chester.
