AN official from Glebe FC is to be honoured at Wembley ahead of the Manchester United v Chelsea Community Shield clash next month.

Chris Dickinson will be presented with the FA’s national workforce award for his administration skills at the Bromley club ahead of the showcase seasonal curtain trailer between the Red Devils and Blues on August 9.

Dickinson said he was “gobsmacked” when informed of the news and the honour has delighted Glebe FC chairman Rocky McMillan.

He said: “We are all so pleased for Chris because he put in 18 months of unbelievable commitment to help us achieve the coveted FA Charter standard community award.

“This award is only held by 1.5 percent of clubs in the country.

“Chris has made an outstanding contribution to Glebe over many years.”

Glebe are running 22 teams next season for more than 260 members aged between four and 15.

The club are also are also offering free training to girls aged between eight and 11 in September who will be coached by former Enland and Premiership stars.

In addition, Glebe have specially trained teachers and coaches for our youngest groups.

McMillan added: “We were fortunate to win many leagues and cups last season, but to win the sportsmanship awards as well really shows Glebe FC at its best.”
