A NEW youth football scheme established by Orpington FC has received a generous donation from the Kingsmill Orpington Bakery.
The scheme will see players from Orpington FC’s youth teams receive coaching sessions, along with disadvantaged children in the region. The other half of the Kingsmill £1,000 donation has been put to good use at the other end of the club, with the bakery becoming the new first team kit sponsor.
Phil Sproston, commercial manager for the Kingsmill Orpington Bakery, paid a visit to Green Court Sports Club to present the cheque.
Orpington Captain Rob Quick and first team manager Ted Gorman were on hand to accept the donation on behalf of the club.
Mr Sproston said: “As an Orpington bakery, we were delighted when the opportunity arose to support Orpington FC’s youth football scheme, as well as sponsor the club’s first team for the season.
“Orpington FC is very much a family club and establishing a football programme for disadvantaged children, who would not normally get the chance to experience football at this level, is a wonderful initiative.
“The club has a fantastic set-up and we look forward to establishing strong ties between the club and the Kingsmill Orpington Bakery in the future.”
