SONNY Cobbs is hoping to put a summer of uncertainty behind him by helping Welling reach the play-offs.
The former Brighton player, who was inspirational in Welling's survival last season after arriving on loan, had been keen to secure a move to a full-time club after being released by the Seagulls.
Andy Ford immediately offered Cobbs a deal at Park View Road, but the player only put pen to paper last week after a full-time move to Salisbury City was called off because the Conference club couldn't accommodate him within their budget.
Now the situation has finally been resolved, Cobbs is completely focused on getting Welling back into non-league's top tier for the first time since 2000.
He said: "There have been a lot of things going on this summer and I was always up front about wanting to play full-time.
"I enjoyed myself here last year when I came in on loan and this is a good side.
"Welling are definitely a club on the up and if we are winning and I'm playing well, it is a positive place to be.
"We want to be pushing for the play-offs and if we start with a good run, there is something for us to build on.
"Andy has always made me feel welcome and that is what you want from a football manager.
"A lot of managers muck players about, but Andy isn't one of them."
Cobbs could well feel he was mucked about Salisbury after a switch to the Wiltshire side fell through at the last minute, but he remains philosophical about the whole episode.
He said: "I was planning to go there and it looked promising, but then they told me they couldn't afford it because of financial problems.
"It was frustrating, but that is the life of a footballer."
And what is his message to the Welling fans now he has finally agreed to sign for the club?
"I had great support from them when I was here last year and always gave 100 percent in every game.
"Hopefully they can see the club are going in the right direction and I want to be part of it by delivering good performances and hopefully getting a few goals as well."
