Mark Goldberg insisted his squad is stronger than it was last season after Bromley defeated Sutton United 2-1 at Hayes Lane on Saturday.
The hosts fell behind to Jamie White’s 14th minute opener, but a Pierre Joseph-Dubois brace propelled the Ravens to second in the Conference South.
And the manager believes the victory was evidence of the strength and collective spirit within the Bromley camp.
“I’m really starting to feel the unity within the dressing room,” Goldberg said.
“To build a solid team worthy of winning a championship can take years.
“We’ve got the core from last year and another eight or so new players who have settled in very well.
“Last year we failed because we didn’t have strength in depth.
“This year, although we don’t have an out-and-out goalscorer like Bradley Goldberg, we have a better squad.
“Hopefully that will make up for losing Brad and we can get over the line this year.”
After equalising on 18 minutes, Bromley failed to convert numerous chances to take the lead, but Goldberg was pleased with the way his team persevered.
The Hayes Lane chief said: “In the first half we were very slow to get going, but the belief was there and I thought we did ourselves proud in the second half.
“We had some great chances – we hit the post, the crossbar, the keeper pulled off some good saves.
“But finally we got the goal and the win that I thought we deserved.
“It was important because we want to start winning at home more often.
“We’ve got a good track record away from home.
“Our fans were magnificent.
“They made a lot of noise and thankfully we gave them what they were after today.”
Goldberg was particularly impressed with Joseph-Dubois, whose first half header and 88th minute winner took the Frenchman’s goal tally into double figures.
“Pierre’s been fantastic for us this season,” he said.
“He’s a master at being in the right place at the right time.
“Louis Dennis and Pierre have been magnificent as a pair.
“I’m pleased with all the boys, there’s great unity in the dressing room.
“There’s a long way to go but it’s a good position to be in.”
The Bromley boss acknowledged, however, that his side must improve their set piece defending after conceding another goal from a corner.
“It wasn’t good enough,” he admitted.
“It’s a misunderstanding with Ugo I’m afraid.
“But we put it right and I thought we defended extremely well after the goal.”
Goldberg’s men will be looking to extend their unbeaten run away from home against fellow high-flyers Basingstoke Town on Tuesday evening.
