The Wands were unfortunate to come away from their trip to Sudbury pointless despite a gutsy performance on a difficult playing surface.
Cray were indebted to keeper Darren Behcet early on who made three sharp saves to keep the home side at bay.
On 22 minutes Cray took the lead against the run of play when Shaun Welford took advantage of some hesitant defending to burst into the box and calmly slot the ball into the net.
Cray came close when Hussein Isa’s free kick was met by an excellent save from Marcus Garnham who tipped his shot over the crossbar.
In the second half both Isa and Kerry Kedze tested Garnham. Then came possibly one of the saves of the season from Garnham when Welford’s powerful header was clawed away by the keeper from off the line.
However, Sudbury picked up their game and levelled the scores on 76 minutes when Correy Davidson fired home a first time shot.
Then on 80 minutes Sudbury scored the winner when Ben Robinson fired home an excellent volley from Kris Newby’s pass.
The Wands tried to get back into the game but the home side were able to see out the game.
