Cray Wanderers advanced to the 3rd Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy following an excellent performance and result against Southern League Histon.
The match was an entertaining game and Ishmael Welsh was unlucky for Cray when his effort on goal was cleared almost off the line by Stuart Wall. Histon came close when Ashley White hit a fine shot which went just over the top.
On 14 minutes Cray took the lead when Shaun Welford powered his way into the box and fired home a very composed finish.
Histon had chances to get back into the game but the game changed on 42 minutes when the home side were reduced to ten men when Rogan McGeorge was sent off for a late tackle on Marlon Patterson.
Histon were the better side for the first twenty minutes of the second half and Mateusz Kuzminksi and Nick Freeman had chances to score.
However, the last twenty minutes of the game Cray took the sting out of the game and increased their lead on 73 minutes following a clever breakaway. A Histon set piece was cleared and Rory Hill ran on, passed to Welsh who then in return set up Hill who fired home a great finish.
