Ravens Wood School’s U13 football team is celebrating national success after winning the English Schools’ Football Association boys’ cup at Reading FC’s Madejski Stadium.
Their final encounter with Liverpool’s Cardinal Heenan Sports College went to penalties after Emmanuel Marty, Joshua Newbury-Teeluck and Sam Skeffington struck in a thrilling 3-3 draw.
With the score at 7-6 thanks to successful spot-kick conversions from Newbury-Teeluck, Spencer Cripps, Harry Smith, Henry O’Neil, Jacob Buckley, Robert Strachan andBen Leeson, keeper Tiwalde Fujamade pulled off a heroic diving save to seal the trophy.
That stop sent his team-mates and the huge following of pupils from the school in the Madejski stands into raptures.
After being presented with the trophy by representatives from PlayStation and the ESFA, Ravens Wood celebrated in front of friends, family and fellow pupils.
The partnership between PlayStation and the (ESFA) has been set up to provide a boost to grassroots football and help increase the engagement in competitive football for secondary school age categories.
