St Columba’s Catholic Boys School in Bexleyheath is ended the football season a high last night by winning the U15 north Kent cup final.
It is the third time in four years St Columba’s have collected the trophy and caps a memorable season for the boys, who reached the final of a national competition at Hillsborough as well as being crowned Kent champions.
They took on Hurstmere School from Sidcup in the north Kent final at Thamesmead Town FC and even though a first half penalty was missed, second half goals from William Okolorie and John Ufuah wrapped up a 2-0 success.
Head teacher Nigel Fisher was first to praise the team after an impressive year on the pitch.
He said: “Kent champions, north Kent Champions and national finalists is an incredible achievement in one season.
“It’s proof, if it were needed, our students can achieve anything because they are part of a community which cares and one which excels culturally, sportingly and academically.”
