Ravens Wood School’s boys’ football team are heading to the Madejski Stadium later this month for the final of the PlayStation U13s Schools Cup.
The Bromley school will face Cardinal Heenan School (Liverpool) at the home of Reading FC on May 19 having progressed through eight earlier rounds to reach the final.
That spot was secured with a 1-0 semi-final success over Northampton SFB and now the boys are just 90 minutes away from getting their hands on the national crown.
The PlayStation Schools’ Cup is an 11-a-side country-wide football tournament for secondary school age groups and more than 5,000 spectators are expected to attend the 15 different finals being held over three days at the Madejski.
Pupils from Ravens Wood have also been invited along to the event to support their friends and enjoy a number of activities including a PlayStation®4 gaming experience, a half-time crossbar challenge for spectators and live commentary for each game.
Ravens Wood’s route to the final: Round two - 4-0 Heathcote School & Science College; round three – 5-0 Prendergast Ladywell Fields College; round four - 7-4 Cox Green School; round five 3-1 St Thomas More High School; round six - 3-1 Emerson Park Academy; round seven – 4-1 Shoreham Academy; quarter-final – 5-1 Felpham Community College; semi-final – 1-0 Northampton SFB.
