BROMLEY finished the game with only nine players as their poor form continued at Hayes Lane on Saturday when Hayes & Yeading United comprehensively overcame their struggling hosts 4-0.

The first half dismissal of Marlon Patterson, for retaliation, was followed on 69 minutes by Sanchez Ming’s straight red card for a two-footed tackle on Mark Bentley, who was also sent off for retaliation.

Hayes might have opened the scoring in the first minute, but John Goddard’s chipped effort was held by Joe Welch.

Marlon Patterson was fouled by Kudas Oyenuga and the resultant free-kick was flicked just wide of the post by Callum Butcher.

The visitors, who were below Bromley in the table going into the match, hit Bromley with a three-goal blast in the space of four minutes soon after.

Their first came on 10 minutes when poor defending allowed Luke Williams acres of space and his cross was sweetly volleyed home by captain Sam Cox from the edge of the area.

Sixty seconds later it became 2-0 as Daniel Wishart’s drive deceived Welch to nestle in the far corner of the net.

Patterson unnecessarily upended Oyenuga on the byline and the centre forward dusted himself down to blast the spot kick home in the 13th minute, with Patterson booked for his troubles.

Bromley offered very little in attack, but Danny Waldren did head wide and Pierre Joseph-Dubois headed on for Elliott Buchanan to run onto, but Hayes keeper Milan Stojsavijevic was quickly out to smother.

Patterson was caught in possession and Jack Holland did well to get across to deny Wishart as he was about to shoot before Wishart got clear on goal, only to kick the ground as he shot, allowing the ball to trickle through to Welch.

Bromley were reduced to 10 men in the 43rd minute. Patterson, who was having a bad afternoon, was brought down by a clumsy tackle from Wishart and then got involved in an argument with Oyenuga before appearing to aim a punch at his opponent.

The referee produced a second yellow card, followed by a red one.

Hayes might have increased their lead almost immediately but Buchanan was on hand to head Goddard’s header off the line following a corner.

Sam Corcoran went close for the visitors early in the second half before he added Hayes’ fourth goal on 63 minutes. It came following a Bromley corner, won by Waldren’s shot being deflected off a defender. The flag-kick went straight to former Charlton full-back Osei Sankofa, who raced 50 yards before squaring inside for Corcoran to lob Welch after the keeper had strayed off his line.

Bromley’s afternoon of woe continued in the 69th minute when Ming saw red for a two footed lunge on ex-Gillingham player Bentley.

Bentley did not take too kindly to the tackle, retaliated and was also dismissed.

Welch did well on 80 minutes when he parried substitute Adam Everiss’ free-kick, and then recovered quickly to block Cox’s rebound before Bromley’s substitute Mike Jones did well to get back to prevent Julian Owusu getting his shot away.

In the final minute Welch palmed away Corcoran’s effort in what was the last action of the game, as Bromley fell to their heaviest home defeat since March 2004.
