BROMLEY manager Mark Goldberg has revealed he is willing to offer his resignation following Saturday’s disappointing 4-0 defeat to Hayes & Yeading United at Hayes Lane.

The Lillywhites slipped to their sixth straight league defeat, shipping three goals in a disastrous three minute period in the first half before going down to nine men.

The game was all but over inside 13 minutes and a visibly dejected Goldberg admitted his time at the club may be nearing its end.

He told News Shopper: “I know the fans haven’t just wanted me to go today, they’ve wanted me to go for a few years.

“I will never leave a sinking ship but I’m quite happy to go next year.

“I’ve got no problem with that if that's the decision.

“I’ll certainly offer for this to be the decision if I’ve failed this year.”

Goldberg continued: “The fans can get what they want when the time is right and I’m happy to walk away.

“I don’t need to take the kind of abuse I get but at the end of the day I need to continue to make sure the whole thing doesn’t fold in the meantime, so we’ll all do what we need to do at the right time.”

The Bromley boss stressed simply trying to keep the club in business has taken a toll on matters on the pitch and although keeping his cards close to his chest, Goldberg insisted the fans may never understand the sacrifices which have been made.

He explained: “What I want people to look at is that a lot goes on in football which affects results.

“Budgets unfortunately do have to change in non-league football and you can’t just be a manager at our level.

“There’s a lot which goes into what happens on the pitch the fans will never ever know.

“Obviously I will do what’s right for the football club because I’ve put my heart and soul into it.

“To be fair I’ve taken bullets for the players and the fans over the last few years - bullets they will never know about were fired in terms of keeping the club afloat.”

The game itself was a disaster for Bromley from start to finish.

Hayes & Yeading took the lead after 10 minutes through skipper Sam Cox before Daniel Wishart doubled the advantage within 60 seconds, his low shot squirming under keeper Joe Welch.

It would get even worse just another minute later as Kudus Oyenuga earned his side a penalty before dispatching it himself to put Hayes & Yeading 3-0 up after only 13 minutes.

Three red cards followed.

Marlon Patterson received two bookings before Sanchez Ming was shown a straight red for a late challenge on 67 minutes.

Hayes & Yeading substitute Mark Bentley was given his marching orders for his part in the melee which followed.

Four minutes earlier, a delightful Sam Corcoran chip from the edge of the box sealed a fourth and final goal for the visitors.

Goldberg admitted responsibility for any tactical errors but emphasised his disappointment in certain players who he feels have given up fighting for the cause.

He said: “We’ve found it very difficult to find the right combination in centre midfield since Ali Fuesini left us.

“Helge Orome has been pushing for a start in midfield, I feel sorry for him because in the end we had to take him off.

“Decisions like that I have to take on the chin, it’s my fault that I tried a combination which didn’t work.

“But at the same time I can’t be responsible for Marlon Patterson mis-timing tackles and getting sent off.

“I always put my hands up when I feel I’ve made a decision which hasn’t helped, but at the end of the day I can’t do what they do out there.

“I’m just not getting the response.

“I feel let down but I’ll take another two bullets.”

Goldberg added: “Unfortunately our heads go down and the players who aren’t showing they care, care less and there’s too much of a mountain to climb for the players who do care.

“Certain players aren’t playing to be here next year, they’ve made up their mind they don’t want to.

“Players like Danny Waldren and Mike Jones showed in the second half they played for the team because they want to be here.

“Certain decisions were made too early on that we looked like we were going to be OK, but we’re still not safe and we vitally need a win.”
