KENNY Jackett says home form is key as he looks to kick-start the season with a win at The Den against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Millwall will be looking for three points against an in-form Boro side who have won their last three games and are sitting sixth in the league.

Jackett said: “We have had good games against Middlesbrough, very good games.

“They are a good footballing side who were close to promotion last year, almost getting into that top six.

“They’ve been in the Premier League and they will be looking to get into the top six again this year I am sure. “They have a lot of talented players.

“We have been disappointed to some degree with our home form.

“Last year we picked up very well at the end but our home form is really important to us because we want to put on a good show in front of our own fans.

“We will see what we can do on Saturday. “We need to play well and get results at home, that’s our aim because we don’t want to be having a poor season.”

Middlesbrough beat Gillingham 2-0 in the League Cup on Tuesday but Jackett doesn’t feel there will be any advantage for his side having enjoyed a free week.

The Millwall manager said: “They changed quite a few players at Gillingham.

“Middlesbrough have a big squad and they rotated on Tuesday with some success because they came through the tie “I don’t think there is any advantage at this point in the season because players are just off the back of a long summer and are fresh.”

Jackett had hinted last week Paul Robinson might have been fit in time for Saturday’s game but revealed today that won’t be the case.

“No he is not available,” he said.

“He is fit and training.

“We have an academy game he will play in on Tuesday, but the target for Paul is after the international break.

“Tamika Mkandawire is similar to Robinson, he will play on Tuesday in the development game which is at home to Barnet at The Den.

“Hopefully they come through that and are okay.”
