A VALLEY return for Dany N’Guessan could be on the cards if a deal can be thrashed out with Millwall before the transfer window closes at the end of this week.

N’Guessan spent a brief period on loan with the Addicks last season and has made it clear to Kenny Jackett he wants to go back to SE7 on a permanent basis.

Charlton have already made a formal bid but the Lions say they have better offers on the table, although it remains unclear who these might be from.

When asked for an update on N’Guessan’s situation by newsatden.co.uk after Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday, Jackett said: “No, there hasn't been any change.

“There's been some interest, as there always is in centre forwards, and I have some sympathy for his position because he wants to play.

“But we'll see how things develop next week and in the future.”

Addicks manager Chris Powell was non-committal when asked on Saturday whether a deal for N’Guessan would happen.

“Maybe, maybe not,” he said.

“People have linked us with Dan, he was very successful for us last year but of course everyone has got to be happy in any deal – the selling club, the buying club and of course the player.

“We will have to wait and see whether anything resurrects from that and of course whether we go in for anyone else.”

Powell added: “I would like us to keep improving but of course it has got to be the right player and all aspects of the deal would have to be right.

“I’m sure I may try and improve it if I can because obviously after Friday we are talking about the emergency loan window, which I used last year and I’m sure if I have to, I will use this year.

“But we will wait and see because a lot of players will become available.

“A lot of the time it is at the wrong price as well so we will wait and see if we do any business that it is right and viable for this club.”

Meanwhile, Powell has reiterated his determination to bring in a new keeper as back up for Ben Hamer so John Sullivan can leave Charlton on loan.

He said: “Well if he goes out then yes because I would only be left with Ben Hamer and you Nick Pope, who we’ve got high hopes for coming back from injury.

“We would have to balance that if that happens because John has been a terrific professional since he has been here but he needs to play.

“I want to be fair to him and make sure that he gets games but of course I don’t want to leave us short.

“Ben Hamer is the number one and rightly so, he has earned the right to be that but I don’t want to leave myself short because I know how quickly things can change.

“Of course if something happens with John then we would have to do something as well.”
