SHEFFIELD Wednesday defender Miguel Llera scored a dramatic injury time winner to extend the Owls’ unbeaten home record to 17 games with a 3-2 success over brave Millwall.
Jermaine Johnson opened the scoring for Wednesday with a superb strike after 19 minutes but a sublime goal from James Henry saw the Lions draw level before Liam Trotter fired Millwall into the lead just before half-time.
But Spaniard Llera struck on 68 minutes to level the scores and again after the 90 were up to snatch victory for the hosts.
Lions manager Kenny Jackett said:“We caused them problems on the break and played some very good football today, with two excellent goals away from home.
“I didn’t think it was a free-kick on Chris O’Grady from Karleigh Osborne for the goal, I thought it was a fair challenge.
“There was a lot of pressure on the referee to day from a very passionate crowd.”
As the rain lavished down in front of a 24,752 strong crowd , the Lions seemed to have weathered the storm.
Andy Keogh found the back of the net to put the Lions in front again after Llera’s 68th minute equaliser, however the goal was disallowed for a foul by Osborne.
Jackett added:“I thought that the goal Keogh scored in the second half where Osborne challenged the keeper , the free-kick was given very quickly.
“It was perhaps hard for the referee but I thought he was harsh against us in the second half and it produced a tide coming at us, one that we nearly sustained.
“I thought we actually rode the storm.
“As I said, the ref’s decision on Keogh’s goal I will be very interested to see.”
The Lions’ next test is against an in-form Middlesbrough side at the Den on Saturday (12.45pm).
Jackett’s men will look to bounce back from the defeat against Sheffield Wednesday and the boss remains positive Millwall are close to finding the winning formula.
He said: “We need some spirit like we played today, at times some quality as well because we do have a quality of football in us.
“We have looked like scoring goals which is a plus for us .
“We are ultimately frustrated today but we are close to the winning formula, which is a good thing and a positive.
“With the right descions , the right work on the training ground and the right performance on the day, we think we can win in this league.”
