PAUL Robinson has an outside chance of being available to face Middlesbrough on Saturday week after the Lions skipper made a welcome return to full training.

Robinson required hernia surgery in the close season and then suffered a fresh injury setback after being struck with a groin problem.

Manager Kenny Jackett expects the central defender to almost certainly be available for the trip to Hull on September 15 but suggested he could potentially be fit enough to take on Boro if all goes well.

The boss said: “I think Robinson will be back after the international break but if he goes well between now and then there is a chance he might put himself in contention for the Middlesbrough game on September 1.

“That depends how his training goes between now and then.”

Tamika Mkandawire is also back in training after his long-term knee problem which ensured last year was a virtual write off for the 29-year-old.

However, Jackett is prepared to play the waiting game before rushing Mkandawire back into first team action.

“Tam is a little bit more long-term,” he said.

“We are reviewing it as we go along.

“He would need some reserve and development games first before we could consider him for the first team.”
