KENNY Jackett says Millwall have had no approach from Stoke City for midfield ace Liam Trotter.

Tony Pulis became the latest top flight manager to be linked with the Lions’ prize asset this week following earlier reported interest this summer from the likes of West Ham and Southampton.

Trotter still has two years on his present contract to run but told News Shopper earlier this month he expects to resume talks with Millwall about a new deal once the current transfer window closes.

That hasn’t put an end to the speculation about his future, with Stoke assistant boss Dave Kemp reportedly in the stands at Peterborough on Tuesday night to check out the highly-rated 23-year-old.

But Lions boss Jackett this morning confirmed there is no offer on the table yet from the Potters.

“I haven’t had any contact from Stoke,” the Den chief said.

“Liam is under contract and we want to try and bring in more good players, not sell our best ones.”

And when asked if he was confident Trotter would still be at Millwall once the window shuts at the end of next week, Jackett replied: “I’ve heard nothing to tell me or make me believe anything different.”

Jackett also dropped a strong hint that aside from Dany N’Guessan’s well documented potential exit, the next week would produce little in terms of comings and goings from The Den.

He said: “I don’t know at the moment, I wouldn’t say there is necessarily anything imminent.

“We probably need to move players in before we move any out.

“If suddenly we have injuries or a big hole in the team we may respond.

“We are always looking to strengthen anyway.

“If there are people we feel who can strengthen or improve the team then we will do it but it might be quite quiet between now and the deadline.”
