CHARLTON manager Chris Powell has confirmed forward Paul Hayes could still leave the club, despite a proposed recent move falling through.
Having only joined the Addicks last summer, Hayes found regular first team football in SE7 hard to come by following the arrival of Yann Kermorgant.
He has been linked with a move away from The Valley all summer and it almost happened before a last minute problem scuppered the deal, as Powell explained.
“There was a possibility of Paul Hayes moving on, but that fell through,” the Valley chief said.
“He’s still here, he was on the bench against Leyton Orient.
“At the moment there’s no movement, but in the next two weeks a lot of clubs will be chancing their arm and ringing round to find players, so something may happen.”
Powell laughed off reports linking him with Ricardo Fuller, confirming he had not had any contact with the former Stoke striker who is interesting fellow Championship club Middlesbrough.
“I was with Ricardo many years ago when he’d just come over from Jamaica”, Powell said.
“Now you’ve mentioned him, I’ll look into it!”
