KENNY Jackett has confirmed Millwall will not be attempting to bring midfielder Nick Montgomery back from Sheffield United.
The 30-year-old saw a brief loan spell at The Den cut short late last season by injury but it was reported this week the Lions were battling it out with Championship rivals Leeds and Burnley to secure a permanent move for the player from Bramall Lane.
However, that suggestion was flatly rejected by Jackett.
“I don’t think so, no,” he told News Shopper.
“In midfield at the moment we have Therry Racon back from injury to add to the likes of Josh Wright, Liam Trotter and Jimmy Abdou so it isn’t necessarily an area we are looking to strengthen right now.”
Meanwhile, Jackett is keeping an open mind on whether to offer another former loanee Danny Shittu a deal after the defender hooked up with the Lions on trial.
“He has only done a couple of days and we will see how he develops,” the Millwall boss added.
