FINNISH international Shefki Kuqi completed a £2.5m move to Palace from Blackburn Rovers with only minutes of Thursday's transfer window remaining.

The player was delighted with the move and admits he just can't wait for this weekend's game at Luton Town.

He said: "It wasn't a hard decision really, you have to take your chances when they come along and I took my chance in the Premier League.

"I was disappointed with the way I left Blackburn but I'm pleased to be here now.

"It was flattering with the efforts Crystal Palace put in to sign me, with Bob Dowie, the chairman and manager all showing their ambition.

"I just can't wait for Saturday now to start playing."

Kuqi had spent last year with the Ewood Park outfit in the top flight but after seeing his first team opportunities largely limited to the bench despite a favourable scoring record, he had no reservations about joining Palace.

The Yugoslavian born marksman has always been a dangerous customer at his previous clubs in England, which include Stockport County, Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich Town and Blackburn, so he isn't short of confidence.

He added: "I always believe in myself and I give everything so as long as I get my chance, I know I can take it.

"The main thing for me is to play football and this is why I came here."

While admitting it was a wrench to leave Premiership football behind, the 29-year-old is confident he will soon be back with Palace under the stewardship of Taylor.

Kuqi said: "The manager is one of the best in the country and his record tells you everything.

"The club is very ambitious and in my opinion is one of the best teams in the Championship with the best chance to go up.

"I played last year in the Premiership and I think we have a good, good chance of playing there next season.

"I look at it as just another eight months before I'm back in the Premiership.

"I'm really pleased and looking forward to getting back and starting training here."

And Kuqi warned the Selhurst Park regulars that he intends to show his infamous diving celebration at every opportunity over the next three years.

"My target is to give everything I've got to the team and if I do then hopefully we'll see thecelebration plenty of times."
