CRYSTAL Palace boss Peter Taylor is still working hard behind the scenes to try and add some new faces to the Eagles squad.

The transfer window closes tomorrow and Taylor is still chasing a striker and a right winger to give his squad some extra competition over the coming months.

Without revealing exactly who he was after, out of respect for the players and clubs involved, Taylor admitted he was hopeful of adding to the squad before the deadline.

He said: "I hope we'll have someone here before next week.

"I can't guarantee it but whether it's a wide right player or a striker, we'll keep trying.

"We know the players we're after and it's just a case of waiting to see what happens."

Taylor is hoping to have an ultra competitive edge to his Palace squad for the coming months and wants to have a situation where there are two senior players competing for each spot in the side.

He said: "We only have 19 outfield players.

"Ideally, I want to have two players for every position."

However, Taylor wouldn't rule out any outgoing transfers whether through loans or sales of players who have not featured in the starting 11 this season.

Young striker Lewis Grabban was loaned to League One side Oldham Athletic last week to gain some experience while Hungarian international Sandor Torghelle left the club to join Greek outfit PAOK Salonika.

Taylor said: "Ever since I've been a manager, if someone is a starter in the first team, I put the phone down but if it's someone who isn't in the team, I'll listen to what's being said.

"Sometimes, if someone isn't playing in the team it's good for them to get out and play some games.

"But it all depends on the situation."
