CHARLTON will discover whether new winger Christian Bolanos is to be given a work permit at a Home Office appeal hearing today.
The 22-year-old Costa Rican joined on a one-year loan from Deportivo Saprissa earlier this month but has not yet been given clearance to play.
Charlton manager Iain Dowie said: "We have an appeal on Tuesday and are hopeful it will be positive.
"We'll have to see, but I hope he'll be available for Chelsea (on Saturday)."
Bolanos was in his country's squad for the 2006 World Cup and was signed for the Addicks after impressing during a trial spell with the club.
Dowie said: "Christian has come in and really been a star.
"He played very well in the Fifa Club Championship against Liverpool and then at the World Cup but for some reason we have to go to an appeal."
