ANOTHER young Addick will ply his trade in the Football League this season after winger Lloyd Sam joined Championship Sheffield Wednesday on a month's loan.
The 21-year-old linked up with his new teammates on Wednesday afternoon, following in the footsteps of Darren Randolph and Simon Walton, who joined Gillingham and Leeds United respectively last week.
He will not be available for Paul Sturrock's side's League Cup tie against Wrexham the same night, however, so he will be eligible for future Addicks outings in the competition.
But Sam will go straight into the Owls' squad for Saturday's game against Leeds at Hillsborough, where he will face club colleague Walton.
He said: "It is a great opportunity for me to go out and make my mark in the Championship.
"It is my long-term aim to get into the Charlton first team but I know I need to get more experience and this is the perfect chance for me to do that.
"Sheffield Wednesday is a big club but I'm confident I can go up there and do well.
"I've had a good pre-season and I feel fit so we'll see what happens."
Wednesday, who had new Addick Scott Carson on loan towards the end of last season, are currently 16th in the Championship table, having picked up a win and two draws so far.
Sam's loan will expire on September 23, making him available for further games against Southend United, Stoke City, Hull City and Derby County.
Also presently out on loan is goalkeeper Rob Elliot, who will spend the season with League Two side Accrington Stanley, and Jani Tanska, who will stay with Norwegian outfit Lyn Oslo until the end of the year.
