JOE Gallen admits it is highly unlikely Millwall will make any more loan signings before the emergency window closes next Thursday.

The Lions drafted in Andros Townsend from Spurs earlier this week on loan but it would seem that is the final piece of business at The Den according to assistant manager Gallen.

However, he also conceded there is a still a remote chance things could change if Millwall suffer injuries in this weekend’s game at Burnley.

He said: “I wouldn’t say we are looking to bring anyone in but Saturday is another game and anything can happen – sendings off, injuries, who knows?

“It is still open for us to bring someone in if we need to but as it stands at the moment we aren’t really looking.

“I wouldn’t have thought anyone was likely to leave either.

“The manager had a chat with all the players the other day and basically said he wants them all to stay until the end of the season whether they are in or out of the team because things can change so quickly.

“A player can feel he is out of the picture but within a game, a loss, a poor performance or an injury or sending off means they can suddenly find themselves back in.”

Gallen is also backing Steve Morison to go on another scoring spree after the striker ended a barren spell in front of goal by scoring in Tuesday’s 2-0 victory over leaders QPR.

The assistant boss added: “I would say Steve would be confident about going on another run because I believe throughout his career as soon as he has broken a bit of a duck, he gets on the goal trail and starts scoring again.

“He will still be looking for his 20 goals a season because that is what he usually sets himself as a target.

“I think that is what he usually gets and I certainly wouldn’t bet against it.”

Despite the memorable victory against the Hoops, the Lions are still nine points off the play-offs and Gallen knows there is no point in thinking too much about what happened in midweek ahead of Saturday’s trip to Burnley.

“By now we all know it is about the next game,” he explained.

“It is difficult to dwell on losses or victories too much because the next game is usually only a couple of days away.

“Burnley are on a good run and are a former Premier League side, so we need to go and replicate Tuesday night’s performance up at Turf Moor.

“Apparently we haven’t been there for a while but they have a passionate home support like our own, so we can expect a good atmosphere, which I personally prefer.

“They are playing with a lot of confidence and have just got striker Nathan Delfouneso in on loan from Aston Villa, who scored their winner the other night at Hull.

“Eddie Howe has done very well and since he went there, they have actually started to play even better than previously.

“He has obviously got quite a lot to offer but then again so has our manager.”

Neil Harris is rated as 50-50 for the game after coming off in the second half on Tuesday with a hip injury.
