NIGEL Spackman believes Lions midfielder Marvin Elliott will one day be a Premiership player but not just yet.

Speaking after Millwall's 2-1 win over Gillingham in the Carling Cup, Spackman answered specualtion Elliott had been approached by Charlton and Reading.

He said: "There is no truth in him being courted by Reading I don't know about other clubs.

"I believe he has issued a statement through his advisor to the same effect."

He added: "Marvin is here, he trains well, he plays well and hopefully he will get better here.

"I don't think he is ready to be a Premiership player yet."

Elliott's advisor, Tony Finnigan, said: "We can clearly state Marvin is not talking to Reading.

"I had a conversation with Steve Coppell and although he admitted liking him he told me he would not be making a bid.

"As far as we know this situation has not changed.

"There is interest from several clubs and Marvin obviously wants to play at the highest level.

"However, he is a Milwall player and will continue to give his all for them until they state otherwise."

I thought ME did well tonight, he showed great energy levels and he is getting better all the time. When you give him a job to do he is disciplined and a decent player. He also has a lot of work to do on other things, he is working hard in training and if he keeps improving he could end up being a Premiership player.
