CHARLTON boss Iain Dowie was delighted to swell his summer intake to five with the captures of Amady Faye and Djimi Traore.
The international duo arrived from Newcastle United and Liverpool respectively in a double deal worth £4m and their new boss was happy to have them on board.
Speaking on cafc.co.uk Dowie said: "We are delighted to get them both over the line.
"Amady brings us an ability to play the holding midfield role and he is an experienced international.
"I think Djimi can develop into a top class left-back or centre-back and we needed a bit of balance."
He added: "Nathan Ashton has done terrifically well for a young lad but we did need some stability and Djimi will give us big strength and good size."
Faye, who has also spent time in the Premiership at Portsmouth, could pull on a Charlton shirt for the first time in Friday's match in the Netherlands.
But Traore, a Champions League winner with Liverpool two seasons ago, may have to wait until the opening day of the season to make his bow.
Dowie hinted: "The pair have had some strenuous fitness tests over the last couple of days which is part of the medical I make sure we do along with John Harbin and Wayne Diesel, so they will be feeling the effects of that I think.
"Certainly we would like them to join up with us if we can."
Dowie said at the weekend he expected three, perhaps four, new faces 'over the line' by the end of the week, so is he winning the race to make that statement a fact?
He said: "I still think we need to strengthen in other areas and get one or two more bodies in.
"It is something I think we can certainly look to do before Utrecht and I would like to get it done before then but if not we will have to wait."
