KENNY Jackett has identified Marvin Sordell as the main threat to Millwall in Saturday’s home clash with Watford.
The striker has hit three goals in the last two games for the Hornets, including one in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Bristol City.
Millwall’s 0-0 draw with Reading on the same night preserved the Lions’ unbeaten home record, a result which lifted them up to third in the table.
But Jackett has warned his defence that stopping Sordell will be a key factor if Millwall are to maintain their early season promotion push.
The Lions boss said: “Watford had a very good win at Bristol.
“I’ve just watched the game upstairs, they put on a good performance as well and they deservedly beat Bristol City.
“In Marvin Sordell and Danny Graham they have in-form strikers, which gives your team a lot of confidence.
“We're going to have to watch their strikers in particular and Watford are another side where we can measure ourselves as to how far we've come.
“The Watfords, Coventrys and the Readings are the sides that we are aspiring to compete with now and this is another opportunity to do that.”
Jackett made his name as a player at Vicarage Road in the 1980s as Watford finished second in the top flight and also reached the FA Cup final during the most successful period in the club's history.
This will be the first time he has taken on his old club as a manager, a prospect he is relishing.
“I am looking forward to the game,” said Jackett.
“I have a lot of time for the people there and the supporters who on a personal level were very good to me.
“I saw Graham Taylor at a charity game on Sunday.
“He's a very busy man with his work in the media now and obviously taking on the chairmanship of Watford.”
“I am pleased to have worked for a wide range of good and successful people during my time as a coach and Graham is someone who has helped my own management style.”
Jackett is hopeful central midfielder Liam Trotter will be back on Saturday after just missing out on Tuesday’s draw with Reading.
He said: “We're looking at having the same squad for Saturday but we're hopeful Liam Trotter will be fit and added to that.
“Liam was touch and go for Tuesday. He hadn't done any training but we're looking at the next two sessions to see how he is but we're hoping he'll be ok.”
