CHARLTON assistant boss Tim Breacker is refusing to read anything into Huddersfield’s 5-1 mauling by Everton last night ahead of this weekend’s clash between the Addicks and the Terriers.

Lee Clark’s side were simply no match for their Premiership opponents in the Carling Cup at Goodison but Breacker anticipates there will be an immediate response.

He said: “If any team gets hurt like that in the next game they are going to come out fighting, so you could talk that one either way.

“We’ve just got to concentrate on ourselves and make sure we are right doing everything we can to give ourselves a chance to win it.

“We are quite a new squad still, so there are still things we are working on but we feel we are getting there.

“There is a good attitude, a good set of lads, a good spirit and the crowd in our home games have seen that and been behind us, despite last week when we were a bit frustrated.”

Huddersfield are one of the favourites to win promotion this year and further strengthened their squad this week by signing Alan Lee from Crystal Palace.

Both of Saturday’s opponents were beaten in the play-off semi-finals last season and Breacker wouldn’t be surprised to see the Terriers involved in the final shake-up again, despite a slow start to the current campaign.

He added: “They started the season well, got frustrated at home by Tranmere and then had not such a great result at Peterborough and again last night but they will be strong.

“You can see the ambition in terms of their squad and the players they’ve brought in.

“From having a strong season you try to add to it and improve your squad.

“It takes a little bit of time to settle in but we know they will be there or there abouts.

“Saturday will be a big game for them at home and they’ve made another signing as well, so we are expecting it to be a hard game.”
