PHIL Parkinson was extremely critical of Oldham’s Jason Jarrett after the red-carded Latic instigated chaotic scenes towards the end of Saturday’s game at The Valley.
Despite deservedly seeing red in the dying minutes of the physical 1-1 draw between the two sides, Jarrett and his Oldham bosses and team-mates were furious at the decision to book him a second time for a foul on Kyel Reid.
Before finally leaving the pitch, Jarrett aimed the match ball at Parkinson in the home dugout, leaving Parky having to be held back by his coaching staff while the players got into their own pull aparts over the unbelievable scenes.
And the Addicks boss had no sympathy for the utility man and his act of petulance, stating: "He was sent off, and then he kicked the ball at us.
“It was his second yellow and I don't think he could argue it. I think their bench was a bit disappointed that we appealed that it was a foul. But any bench would have done the same.
"The lad got himself in more trouble by booting the ball towards our bench. It might have missed the bench and hit a young girl or lady in the crowd.
"You can't do that. When you get sent off, you have to take your punishment and get off the pitch."
Despite enduring 90 minutes full of physicality and resolute football from the visitors, Parky’s men did well to take the lead through Scott Wagstaff only to be pegged back by Dean Furman’s wonderful volley.
But Parky feels his side weren’t sharp enough in the second half to regain the lead and earn three points which would have guaranteed the Reds top spot this weekend.
"I felt in the first half we played rather like when we were down to 10 men at Orient, when we kept two banks of four and were very solid," added Parkinson.
"At home, though, you've got to make the play more, and we didn't quite do that.
"Even in the second half we didn't play with the quality I know we can do, but credit to Oldham for that.
Indeed, despite the actions of Jarrett at the end, Parkinson had a lot of praise for Oldham’s efforts, saying: “They came and put in a very dogged performance and made it difficult for us.
"Certainly the effort and the attitude was spot on from our lads, but we just lacked that moment of quality today to go and win us the game.
"I've seen both of Oldham’s games on DVD this week, and said to our boys that they have won two and it is not lucky.
"Both performances were good, they have got energy in the team and they will cause a lot of upsets in this season because they are good.
"I knew today's game was going to be very, very difficult. They are the best team we've played to date and they made it tough for us.
"They came here last year and did the same, albeit with a different formation. They were dogged and resilient and we struggled to break them down.
"But you get that, and when you don't play at your best, you give the opposition credit and think at least you've come away with a point.
"It was a well deserved point and three games unbeaten at the start of the season is not a bad return."
