PHIL Parkinson says he will not stand in Bally Smart’s way if the Addicks trialist is offered a deal with another club.
Smart is available to play for Charlton after joining the club on a non-contract basis a fortnight ago before the opening game of the season against Bournemouth.
He was named on the bench that day and played an hour of the 4-3 Carling Cup defeat at Shrewsbury on August 10, as well as for the reserves this Tuesday against Tottenham.
But Parky is seemingly in no rush to make a final decision on whether to make the move permanent.
The Charlton boss said: “Bally Smart is still training with us.
“He has still got a bit of work to do in my eyes to convince us he is worth a contract but we will continue to monitor him.
“I’ve spoken to him and his agent and told him the situation that we are not in a position to do anything yet and if he did get offered a contract elsewhere he should take it.
“But in the meantime, he can stay here and work to impress by playing in the reserve games and you never know what that might lead to.”
