PHIL Parkinson will give trialist Bally Smart more time to impress despite taking him off in Tuesday’s 4-3 defeat at Shrewsbury.
The South African played just under an hour before being replaced by Kyel Reid and the Addicks boss suggested a lack of match fitness had led to his decision.
Parky said: “Bally Smart was a long way off the pace on Tuesday. He’d done excellently in a reserve game and had been good in training but he found it very tough.
“He’s got talent but I said to him today that we need to take him back a step now, so he’ll play in the reserves on Tuesday and we’ll take it from there.”
