KENNY Jacket is relishing his Millwall side’s first home league game since clinching promotion from League One last season.
The Lions made a sensational return to Championship football last week with a shock 3-0 victory away at Bristol City, and they will look to carry on that form as they welcome Hull City to The Den on Saturday.
Jacket said: “I’m looking forward to it.
“With us being out of the Championship for so many years and this being our first home game back, it will be a big occasion.
“Hull are a very good side and have a manager with an excellent record in this division with Leicester.
“But if our players can put on a performance that can challenge a team that was in the Premier League last year, then I’m sure we’ve got a chance of getting a result.”
After four years in League One, the sense of occasion hasn’t been lost on the club’s army of fans who have bought tickets in their droves.
More than 11,000 have been sold so far and Jackett knows just how big an influence they can have on the game.
He explained: “As per usual, they have a big role to play and our players will be aware and made aware that if they play well, they bring the crowd into play.
“It’s a big challenge for our players to do that, but it is possible.”
Millwall will welcome back Steve Morison (international duty), Darren Carter (suspension) and Liam Trotter (injury) from the side which beat Wycombe 2-1 in the Carling Cup earlier this week.
Jackett’s options have been further boosted by the news Jimmy Abdou is available for selection after missing the opening week of the season through injury.
