GEORGE Burley will welcome Neil Danns, Owen Garvan and David Wright back into his Crystal Palace squad ahead of their clash with Barnsley on Saturday.

Danns has missed the opening games through suspension, while Wright missed both matches with a hamstring injury he picked up in pre-season.

New signing Garvan did play in the opening day victory over Leicester, but missed Tuesday’s Carling Cup first round victory at Yeovil because he was away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland U21 squad.

And Burley is delighted to welcome them back.

He said: “Hopefully all three of them should be available, which is badly needed.

“Our squad is at full stretch, so it will be great to be able to add three experienced players.”

With two wins out of two, the Palace boss is extremely pleased with the way the season’s started but expects tougher tests ahead, starting at Oakwell.

He said: “We’re very pleased with how it’s gone so far, we’re working hard and the players are performing very well.

“I’ve been very pleased with the way the players have committed themselves, the quality of football they’ve played and of course the fact we’ve been able to introduce some young players.

“Overall we’ve had two tough games in four days and we’ve come out with two wins, so I’m delighted.

“But we also know it will be a difficult game on Saturday because Barnsley are at home and every game in the Championship is difficult.”

For this reason, Burley remains cautious when it comes to setting any targets for this season.

He added: “There are 46 games and you’ve got to have a little bit of luck with injuries.

“We won’t have a settled squad at certain times, so we will have to take it one game at a time and see how far it takes us.”
