CRYSTAL Palace manager George Burley has dampened speculation linking Celtic with a move for Julian Speroni.
The Glasgow club were reported as having made an official enquiry to Palace yesterday for the Argentinian, but the former Scotland boss insists his much sought after keeper is staying at Selhurst Park.
He told News Shopper: “There has been no contact at all between Celtic and our club.
“We’ve made it clear we want Julian to stay.”
Speroni has been offered an extended deal with the Eagles and has played in both of Palace’s fixtures so far, including last night’s Carling Cup victory at Yoevil.
But as long as the contract remains unsigned, the speculation won’t go away.
Burley added: “The club are in contact with him to try and extend his contract and that is an ongoing thing at the moment.
“With any negotiations it’s got to be right for both parties but we’re working hard to try and reach an agreement.”
