CHARLTON launched an appeal today against Jose Semedo’s sending-off against AFC Bournemouth.
The Portuguese midfielder faces a three-game ban following his dismissal after a challenge on Cherries striker Michael Symes.
Semedo was distraught as he left the field and manager Phil Parkinson confirmed onthis afternoon the club would lodge an appeal.
He said: “All of the staff have looked at the challenge from every available angle and if tackling is still part of the game, which I believe it is, then I’m not sure how Semedo could have gone into the tackle any fairer.
“Jose slid in one-footed and his first contact was with the ball.
“It would have been harsh even if he had received a yellow card, so a three-game suspension seems harsh to say the least.”
“The Football Association is fast-tracking these appeals and hopefully they will look at it closely, as we have done this morning, and see it was an honest challenge where Semedo won the ball.”
