CHRISTIAN Dailly has been confirmed as Charlton’s new captain for the forthcoming campaign.

The move is unlikely to come as any surprise to supporters following Nicky Bailey’s departure to Middlesbrough but manager Phil Parkinson was still happy to explain his decision.

He said: “Christian is well respected in the dressing room and I think he is the perfect captain in my eyes.

“Of all the signings I’ve made this summer it is probably the most important one because if you look at the 20 players, including the loans, who have left the club, it was important we kept some continuity.

“I felt Christian was pivotal in that and fortunately he has agreed to sign for another year and has come back fitter than ever.

“He is an extremely fit player and looks after himself, so I’m pleased he has signed and am looking forward to working with him again.”
