CHARLTON have signed goalkeeper Ross Worner from Woking.
The Addicks snapped up the youngster for a nominal fee following the departure of Darren Randolph and Worner is expected to be on the bench for Saturday’s opening game with Bournemouth at The Valley.
Manager Phil Parkinson said: “We’ve signed a young goalkeeper from Woking, Ross Worner, who we’ve had on trial last year when he came in and trained with us.
“I’m very pleased because he is a young hungry goalkeeper who wants to be successful and we’ve given him a chance to come and prove himself at this level.
“The reasons we’ve done this is because obviously signing a youngster still gives us an opportunity in the budget to bring an experienced keeper in if we need to in terms of a loan somewhere down the line.
“We had him in on trial again this pre-season but he picked up an injury and went back to Woking.”
