KENNY Jackett watched his Millwall side maintain their unbeaten pre-season campaign at AFC Wimbledon on Friday but felt afterwards there was still room for improvement.
Steve Morison’s eighth minute penalty proved enough to edge out the Conference side but the Lions rarely looked like extending their lead against an organised Wimbledon side.
Jackett said: “Some parts of our play need improving.
“Around the box our co-ordination and understanding wasn’t quite as good as it could have been.
“Apart from the first 20 minutes, it wasn’t great but these things can be worked on.”
Jackett also conceded his players needed a rest after a gruelling five-day training camp in Devon.
He said: “We have had double sessions, so it’s the end of a hard week for the players physically, but everybody has worked hard.
“We probably now need the free week we have got to just ease up a little bit and work on one or two things.
“Then we can go again on another batch of three games where we can work towards full fitness for the Bristol City game.”
Striker Shaun Batt went down in agony during the clash at Kingsmeadow Stadium when an attempted volley saw him connect firmly with Ismail Yakubu’s shin.
After being stretchered off, the new signing was taken straight to hospital.
Jackett said: “He was in quite a bit of pain, so he’s gone to hospital for an x-ray.
“It's fingers crossed really for Shaun and we hope everything is OK.”
