SIX players will leave Charlton this summer, the club confirmed last week.
Leon McKenzie, Matt Spring, Chris Dickson, Dean Sinclair and Jack Clark will all be released following the expiry of their deals at the end of June, while Tony Warner’s short-term contract ends this week.
Addicks manager Phil Parkinson will discuss the futures of the remaining players out of contract this close season at the next board meeting.
He said: “I would like to thank all the players for their efforts on behalf of the club and wish them every success in their future careers.
“Over the next seven days, the board will sit down to discuss budgets for the forthcoming season and we will look at all the other players whose contracts are coming to an end.”
CHARLTON agreed a deal to sign loan striker Akpo Sodje on a permanent basis from Sheffield Wednesday prior to last Monday’s play-off semi-final second leg against Swindon Town.
The 30-year-old frontman, who was in his second loan spell with the Addicks, will now be a member of the Charlton squad which starts life in League One again next season.
The permanent deal enabled Matt Fry to take a place on the substitutes’ bench against the Robins following the injury that ruled Sam Sodje out of the fixture.
Football League rules state only five loan players can be included in a side’s matchday squad.
WATFORD are the latest piece of Charlton’s pre-season jigsaw after a friendly at Vicarage Road was announced for July 31 (3pm).
The Hornets play host to Charlton a week before the League One season kicks off on August 7 and are the third opponents named in the club’s summer schedule to date.
AFC Wimbledon will play host to the Addicks on July 10 (3pm) and Barnet are set to entertain the Valley men a fortnight later on July 24 (3pm).
Charlton also confirmed this morning they will play their annual pre-season game with Welling at Park View Road on July 13 (7.45pm).
SOME of the country’s most famous celebrities will descend on The Valley on Bank Holiday Monday when the Celebrity Soccer Six tournament takes place in SE7.
N-Dubz, The Coral, Danny Dyer, The X Factor contestants Stacey Solomon and Olly Murs, The Hoosiers and Omid Djalili are just some of the names on the bill, and tickets, priced £12, are available from the Valley commercial centre in person or by calling 0871 226 1905.
Addicks fans who attended either play-off semi-final match against Swindon Town can get half-price tickets by showing their match stub.
CHARLTON’S Community Trust last week announced a record four-year deal with Italian kit supplier Macron.
The deal with the manufacturer, which becomes the Addicks’ official kit manufacturer from the 2010/11 campaign, is the biggest in the trust’s history and will see all full-time, part-time and casual staff supplied with kit.
Macron will also provide the women’s and girls’ section with kit at every level and there will be a special range designed for the trust’s advanced centres.
