STEVE Morison has no intentions of letting his winning streak at Wembley come to an end when he runs out for Millwall against Swindon in the League One play–off final on May 29.
The Lions striker was on hand to tap in a first half goal which set Millwall on course for a 2-0 aggregate win over Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night and now Kenny Jackett’s side are hoping to avenge last season’s final defeat to Scunthorpe.
However, Lions ace Morison has never experienced anything other than victory at the home of football with two FA Trophy winners’ medals to his name.
“It’s a fantastic feeling to get to Wembley,” Morison said.
“I’ve been there a couple of times before and won there and I want to do it again.
“It’s great we have managed to bounce back after last year, it shows great character.
“I certainly didn’t think I would be playing at Wembley again so soon.
“But Wembley is a place for winners - it is the one place you don’t want to lose.
“All the lads have said it was so horrible last year. I haven’t experienced that yet and I am hoping I don’t have to.”
The Wembley appearance will mark an extraordinary 12 months for the forward who, at the age of 26, has bagged 23 goals in his first season in league football.
It is almost a year to the day he signed two contracts at Millwall after their play-off semi-final win over Leeds – one in case the Lions got promoted, one in case they didn’t.
And it is a 12 months which ended with Morison being mobbed by Millwall fans after the Huddersfield win, the same fans who got on his back after some stuttering performances in the first few months of his Lions career.
“I got a bit of stick towards the start when I wasn’t getting too many goals but they seem to be right on my side now,” said Morison.
“The gaffer kept putting me in and I eventually I got myself going. Everything’s fallen into place nicely.”
Well, almost.
A third successive win – and third successive goal – at Wembley would round off a perfect season for the prolific forward.
