Millwall will face Swindon in the League One play-off final after beating Huddersfield at The Den tonight.

The Lions will be hoping it is a case of second time lucky at the national stadium after last year’s defeat to Scunthorpe as goals either side of the break from Steve Morison and Paul Robinson set up another Wembley date.

Danny Schofield replaced Marc Laird in Kenny Jackett’s only change from Saturday’s 0-0 first leg draw at the Galpharm, while Shaun Batt was named as a substitute.

Paul Robinson had the first chance of the game on six minutes when his flicked header from Neil Harris’ cross just sailed wide.

Morison headed straight at Alex Smithies after the striker rose to connect with Schofield’s free-kick into the area two minutes later.

Neal Trotman came close when he met Anthony Pilkington’s 12th minute cross in Huddersfield’s opening attack of the game but the header went wide.

Jimmy Abdou’s deflected low drive had to be pushed behind by Smithies for a corner, although it appeared to come off Morison as opposed to a Huddersfield player.

Forde had to react quickly when a 20th minute delivery was deflected goal-bound by Abdou, and then the Lions keeper had to push behind Lee Novak’s long range attempt for a corner.

But it was Millwall who got their noses in front midway through the half when Schofield beat the offside trap and his low cross was parried by Smithies into the path of Morison, who simply couldn’t miss from six yards.

Trotman appealed in vain for a penalty moments later after claiming his header had been handled by Paul Robinson but referee Tonty Bates ignored the claim.

Forde had to tip over Pilkington’s 28th minute cross for a corner as the Terriers continued to look dangerous going forward.

Jack Smith should have doubled the home side’s advantage on the half hour after Morison broke clear and picked him out in the area but the defender placed his shot wide of the post.

Scott Barron’s 36th minute free-lick was flicked on in the six yard box before Lee Peltier cleared the danger and then Harris’ low shot went inches wide of the post with Smithies at full stretch.

Morison headed over from a Barron corner as the Lions continued their search for a second before the interval but they went in at the break with a one-goal cushion, much to the delight of The Den faithful.

Barron came close seven minutes after the restart when he drilled a shot past the post after Harris had cleverly headed the ball into his path.

Gary Roberts blazed wildly over the bar and Huddersfield boss Lee Clark was clearly not happy with what he was seeing so decided to introduce prolific striker Theo Robinson for Jordan Rhodes on 57 minutes.

Peltier delivered a dangerous cross into the six-yard box which Paul Robinson had to touch behind for a corner under pressure from Novak.

Forde dealt comfortably with the corner but it was perhaps a timely reminder Huddersfield remained firmly in this tie with Millwall only holding a solitary goal advantage.

Schofield was unfortunate not to create the breathing space the home fans so desired when he twisted and turned in the box on 68 minutes before smashing a powerful shot against the post.

Forde did well to come and gather Roberts’ cross into a packed penalty area two minutes later as Huddersfield threatened again.

Pilkington was replaced by Liverpool loanee Nathan Eccleston with quarter of an hour to play.

Trotman made a crucial tackle to prevent Morison getting a shot in on target after the striker broke clear on goal before Abdou headed over from Harris’ cross 10 minutes from time.

But the Wembley place was booked two minutes later when Paul Robinson climbed high between two Huddersfield defenders to bury a header past Smithies from Barron’s corner.

Gary Alexander came on for Harris with a minute remaining and almost made an instant impact by dragging a shot just wide of the far post with Smithies at full stretch.

There were four minutes of stoppage time but there was no coming back for a shell-shocked Huddersfield side, who really can have no complaints about the outcome.
