KENNY Jackett has denied Huddersfield have a psychological advantage over Millwall going into the play-offs following the Terriers’ recent league win against the Lions.
Millwall’s long unbeaten run came to an end when they suffered a 1-0 defeat at the Galpharm Stadium last month, but Jackett is convinced it counts for nothing going into the first leg of the double header next Saturday.
He said: “By the time you get to the play-offs, everybody in the league knows everything about each other, so that maybe cancels out a little bit.
“Apart from Southampton, Huddersfield are the side who have spent the most money with a million or a million and a half in transfer fees in the last couple of years.
“They’ve got a lot of attacking options and I’m pleased to say so have we.
“It is a very good standard of league this year, so whoever we are going to play in the play-offs is going to be a good side.
“Our side was in a good groove before a little bit of disruption over recent weeks with a few changes and injuries.
“Tony Craig is back now and trained yesterday after three weeks, so I’m really looking to make sure we’ve got all our best players fit now for a big push on Saturday and Tuesday.”
Millwall were forced to settle for a play-off spot after today’s 3-2 win over Swindon confirmed they would take third spot in the League One table.
However, it could have been very different if Bristol Rovers had held on at Elland Road after taking a shock lead before Leeds came back to win 2-1 and seal second place.
Jackett acknowledged events had hurt a bit but preferred to concentrate on the good points his side will take into the play-offs.
He said: “I was pleased with today after going 1-0 down because we did well to come back and win the game.
“We played very well and put on a good performance.
“I thought it was a very good standard of game and both sides are very capable and played well today. It was a terrific atmosphere at The Den, so they are the positives.
“The other one is we finished third in the league and we have 85 points, which is an achievement as well.”
Jackett added: “There is a tinge of disappointment because up in Yorkshire at one stage it was going for us.
“We have to have a day or two off now, come in strong next week and go for the play-offs, which we are well capable of.
“I think the key for us is getting everybody back.
“Shaun Batt made a difference for us today and if he, Schofield and people like that are ok for next week, it will thicken us up and then we can look forward positively.
“Leeds have got second spot and congratulations to them.”
