KENNY Jackett believes there will be plenty of twists and turns in the race for automatic promotion before the end of the season.
The Lions surrendered their place in the top two after being held to a 1-1 draw at Yeovil on Tuesday evening.
Leeds’ 3-1 success at Carlisle means Simon Grayson’s side have regained the initiative but Millwall, Swindon and Charlton are still only separated by three points as the promotion hopefuls enter the final furlong.
Many may have written Charlton off after their humiliating 4-0 defeat at The Den last month but Jackett is fully aware the Addicks remain a real threat.
He told News Shopper: “We did very well at Yeovil because we dug in and got a point when it didn’t look like we were going to get one.
“It was a good point considering it looked like the game was slipping away from us. It is one to our total in what is a very good league.
“When you look around you, the company we are in is high in calibre.
“It is that tight and I’m sure it will stay competitive all the way through until the end of the season.
“I didn’t think Charlton were ever out of it because they’ve been there or thereabouts all season and rightly so as well with the history and tradition of the club.
“Charlton have never been out of the frame in terms of automatic promotion or too far away, so it looks like one from four now for that second spot.”
Millwall travel to Huddersfield tomorrow evening for a game which will be televised live on Sky.
The Terriers occupy the final play-off place and are the third highest scorers in League One, as well as having one of the best home records.
Jackett is aware of the threat tomorrow’s opponents have going forward but is also determined his side will rise to the challenge in front of the cameras.
He said: “Huddersfield are one of the few sides in the division who have spent big in terms of transfer fees, so they have high hopes and expectations.
“They’ve got some very talented forwards who can score goals.
“We will have to work hard to stop them but we will also be looking to give them problems too.
“It is important we try to create and make some chances for ourselves going forward.
“We will be without Alan Dunne, Andy Frampton and Liam Trotter.
“Chris Hackett is 50-50, as he was before the Yeovil game.
“It was a bit of a risk putting him on because I had hoped not to use him.
“My physio felt the most he could do was 20 minutes, which is what he did at Yeovil.
“He put the header through for Obika to get the goal, so it was a good contribution, if not a fleeting one time wise.”
