Derby County 2 v 1 Palace

Coca-Cola Championship

PALACE boss Iain Dowie slammed Alan Wiley after the referee awarded a last-minute penalty to the Rams.

Clinton Morrison had given the Eagles the lead with a tap-in on 18 minutes before Inigo Idiakez equalised before half-time with a 25-yard curling effort.

On 90 minutes Darren Ward was adjudged to have tripped Charlton loanee Kevin Lisbee inside the box.

Idiakez saw his initial kick saved but he slammed home the rebound to give Derby, who are struggling at the wrong end of the Championship, three important points.

Dowie said: "I don't want to talk about him (Alan Wiley) but what he did out there made it impossible.

"He wants to be the centre of attention and he's spoiled a very good game right at the death."

He added: "I am more worried about those penalties not given to us. There was the one on the line when Ben Watson tried to get the ball in just after half time and their keeper takes Andrew Johnson out later in the game."

He said: "I don't want it to deflect from what was a very entertaining game which both sides played their part in.

"It was a very open game and their main chances were two one-on-ones but apart from that, there wasn't too much to trouble Gabor Kiraly.

"From our point of view, we hit the bar, had a scramble on the line and two good penalty shouts."

He added: "It was a game we came to win and on the balance of play we probably shaded it but they got the result and good luck to them.

"After this it will be very difficult for us to get second place but I am an optimist so we will see how we go."

Palace face Watford on Friday in a promotion six-pointer.
