AFTER five games unbeaten, including holding Premiership Everton to a draw, Lions boss Dave Tuttle tasted defeat for the first time at Preston North End.
Goals from Patrick Agyemang and Claude Davis condemned Millwall to their first defeat since December 17.
Tuttle said: "The players put in plenty of effort but we gave away two bad goals and just couldn't get back into it.
"With senior players missing, they need help and I'm hopeful we'll be making a signing this week."
He added: "We are disappointed but we will go into the FA Cup game against Everton still confident. We are in it together and we will get out of it together as well."
Tuttle's squad was missing Jody Morris, Alan Dunne and Josh Simpson through injury plus the suspended Paul Robinson and long-term casualties Barry Hayles and Carl Asaba.
The visitors stifled Preston for long spells in the first half.
However, on 42 minutes Chris Sedgwick conjured an opening for Agyemang to clip past Colin Doyle.
They doubled their lead just after half-time when Davis converted a simple header from Callum Davidson's corner.
