TWO Charlton away fixtures next year have been rearranged so they can be shown on Sky television. The Addicks will now take on defending league champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge at 1.30pm on Sunday, January 22, rather than the previous day, and Charlton's trip to the City of Manchester Stadium to take on Manchester City has been put back 24 hours to Sunday, February 12 (4pm).
JEROME Thomas missed out with a hamstring injury sustained in training last Thursday but Addicks duo Darren Bent and Darren Ambrose both featured as England under-21s drew 1-1 against France in the first leg of their European Championship play-off at White Hart Lane on Friday night with Ambrose netting a late equaliser. The second leg took place in France last night.
CHARLTON'S reserves were looking to bounce back from defeat for the first time this season when they took on West Ham United last (Tuesday) night. A hat-trick from Arsenal's Arturo Lupoli condemned the Addicks second XI to defeat six days earlier at Welling United, and Charlton next face Ipswich Town at The Valley next Wednesday (7pm). Despite goals from Jani Tanska, Josh Wright and Kieran Murtagh, the under-18s were beaten 4-3 by Crystal Palace on Saturday.
NOVEMBER 7 was a momentous day for one of Charlton's last surviving FA Cup final heroes as Robert Sailor' Brown celebrated his 90th birthday. Brown is one of only five remaining members of Charlton's 1946 and 1947 FA Cup final teams and travelled to The Valley from his nursing home in Inverness, Scotland, for the former Players' Association's centenary dinner last year.
