FORMER Charlton chief executive Peter Varney resigned as a non-executive director of Charlton Athletic plc on Thursday.

Addicks plc chairman Richard Murray said: “I would like to thank Peter for his assistance with the recent refinancing exercise and I’m pleased that he will continue to assist the board to identify potential new investment in the club.”

BROMLEY midfielder Ryan Hall was on target for a Charlton reserve team which defeated Chelsea 2-0 in a private friendly last Wednesday afternoon.

The left winger, who is being watched by the Addicks, also provided the cross from which a Blues defender inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net for the second goal.

Meanwhile, the loan stint of young left-back Jack Clark at Ryman Premier Division side Bognor Regis Town has ended.

PHIL Parkinson and Richard Murray have started contract discussions with winger Lloyd Sam, who is out of contract in the summer, according to the Addicks boss. “Richard and I have sat down with Lloyd, but that conversation will remain private for now,” said Parkinson.

FANS can now clinch their place at The Valley in 2010/11 and supporters who buy before March 31 will pay no more than the current campaign – even if the Addicks are promoted to the Championship.

Charlton announced last month the club’s season-ticket prices for 2010/11 are being frozen until the end of next month, regardless of whether the team wins promotion later this year.

If promotion is secured, adult and senior/U21 prices will then rise to at least the 2008/09 Championship rates.

Fans can renew or download an application form from cafc.co.uk or call 0871 226 1905, while five-year VIP season-ticket forms are available from the commercial centre.

TOMORROW is lining up to be a big day at The Valley.

First, Deon Burton, Sam Sodje and Liam Bellamy are set to tackle questions from Young Addicks when they appear at the latest junior supporters’ event at 2.30pm.

Free tickets admit one member and one adult and are available on 0871 226 1906 or by visiting the commercial centre.

Then, Christian Dailly, Kyel Reid, Lloyd Sam and Carl Jenkinson will be in the Valley Superstore to meet fans and sign merchandise from 4pm until 5.30pm.

TICKETS are currently on general sale for the home matches against Yeovil Town on Saturday (3pm) and Brighton & Hove Albion next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Seats are priced £17, £22 and £25 adults, £17 over 60s and U21s, and £5 U18s and are available from the Valley commercial centre, via cafc.co.uk or on 0871 226 1905.

THE Valley Superstore is offering a series of reductions as part of a special juniors’ week until Friday to coincide with February half-term, with a free boot-bag (worth £6.50) with every purchase of £10 and over.

What’s more, all U14s who come into the store will receive a free 2009/10 Charlton calendar, and size five footballs will be available at half price for one week only.

TICKETS for Charlton’s trip to Southend United on February 26 (7.45pm) went on general sale yesterday, priced £20 adults, £13 over 60s, £12 U21s and students, £10 U17s and £5 U18s.

Plenty of seats remain and more details are available from the Valley commercial centre or on 0871 226 1905.

A 2-2 draw against Chelsea U18s last Friday saw Ben Davisson involved in his second match in seven days after the left winger recovered from a broken ankle sustained in pre-season.

Adebayo Azeez and Tosan Popo scored for the Addicks, who host Southampton on Saturday.

CHARLTON’S 2009/10 season-ticket marketing campaign was last week shortlisted for a Football League award.

The Addicks are one of seven clubs nominated for the Perform Best Marketing Campaign, and the winner will be announced in mid-March.

JORDAN Cousins played 90 minutes as England U16s prepared for next month’s Montaigu Tournament with a 1-1 draw against Belgium last week.

The versatile Charlton academy defender featured at right-back for the national team and will be heading to France to take part in the prestigious competition for a second time.

TWO tribute nights for over 18s will be taking place at The Valley next month, with Irish band Banish Misfortune and Rod Stewart act Jack Danson performing at the stadium on March 17 and 19 respectively.

Tickets are priced £19.95 and include a two-course hot buffet.

Call 020-8333 4020 for details.

FANS wishing to watch the Addicks from the comfort of a Valley executive box only have four more matches from which to choose.

These are this month’s games against Yeovil Town and Brighton & Hove Albion and the fixtures against Carlisle United and Colchester United in April.

The boxes seat 10 people and the packages include car parking, a champagne reception and food and drink.
