ADDICKS boss Phil Parkinson is convinced Leeds and Norwich are not Charlton’s only serious rivals for promotion this season.
The top two both dropped points last weekend at the same time Nicky Bailey’s dramatic injury time equaliser secured a point at Swindon.
And although pleased with the result at the County Ground, Parky is determined his side will quickly start winning instead of drawing games and also identified Swindon and Colchester as two teams to watch out for.
He said: “We picked a team for that particular game (Swindon) which I thought was the best team to get a result and we got a result.
“We had to use the subs and had a certain amount of disruption with one or two injuries, but we got a result against a very good side and a team in-form.
“It was an important point for us and I thought well deserved.
“Colchester are right back in it and Swindon have got to count themselves in the race as well.
“There’s a long way to go and of course I would be lying if I said I don’t look at the opposition results, but we’ve just got to focus on ourselves.
“We are working hard to try and turn the recent draws we’ve had into wins.”
Valley chairman Richard Murray said earlier this week Charlton will have to sell players if they don’t go back up to the Championship at the first attempt.
“I suppose you would half expect that,” the manager said.
“Does it add to the pressure? I don’t think it does, no.”
One man whose contract does run out this summer is Lloyd Sam, reportedly a target for Newcastle as well as several other Championship sides.
But Parkinson denied there had been any interest in the star winger so far.
He said: “I’ve not had one phone call about Lloyd.
“I didn’t see any speculation either in the papers but often speculation in the papers can be put in by the player’s agent or other agents trying to stimulate interest elsewhere.
“We’ve had a chat with Lloyd and the chairman has sat down with him, but that will remain between myself, the chairman and Lloyd.”
